UK and European Casinos
U.K. online casino licenses are to be issued by the United Kingdom (Great Britian) Government.
Whist the number will be few, Britian is the first, first world government to break ranks to issue multiple online casino gambling licenses. The question is why have they reversed long standing policy to issue such licenses?
Has Antigua's success in the World Court against the United States' attempts to restrict their online casino gambling operations been seen as the thin edge of the wedge? Should Antigua win the next round in the World court, The united States will be hard pressed to find legally acceptable reasons to prevent its citizens from gambling at online casinos licensed in Antigua. After all, the loss of State Revenue is not an acceptable reason. It is merely a restriction on free trade.
This raises the question, has the British Government sought legal advice from its law experts and if so was that advice such that they now believe they can no longer restrict where their citizens choose to gamble or does their research suggest that the loss of government revenue is so huge that the only way to reverse the loss is to join them?
What ever the correct answer is, one thing is certain. It will not be long before other European Governments join them for their share of the revenue that online casinos generate. In the beginning it will only be a trickle but it will soon become a flood.
With these changes will come regulation. Whilst we deplore regulation for regulations sake, there are a large number of online casinos with 'cornflakes' packet licenses or no licenses at all. Unfortunately, with human nature being what it is, a very substantial percentage of these casinos do not play by what are publically accepted as fair rules. When you try to resolve a problem with them, you are usually met with a stoney wall of silence or ten thousand excuses as to why your problem cannot be resolved.
Unfortunately players usually only find out what a casino is really like when they have had a good win. The response can vary from 'not recorded by the software', 'that's not what was recorded by the software', 'you did not comply with the conditions of your sign in bonus', etc..
As a website operator, they trade links with you and then delete your link after a few months. If you advertise on behalf of them, they only ever record a small number of visitors or no visitors at all. We quickly identify them because we know the percentage range of our visitors that visit the honest casinos. Armed with that information, the rogues are quickly identified and dropped. All we loose is a few advertising dollars.
Good wins are never as plentiful as we would all like and when we have one, nothing causes more angst than trying to collect from these rogues.
If we have interpreted the issuing of online casino gaming licenses in the U.K.correctly, we believe that we will see big changes across the online casino industry over the next few years. Many of the shonks will disappear and unfortunately, also a few of the smaller honest operators will become casualties of the shakeout.
